This is my Story

The journey of my food truck began on November 21, 2021

My name is Tanja, and I was born and raised in Germany.

When I moved to North Carolina in 2009, I never imagined that I would be cooking for a living.

I was in search of new opportunities after spending 26 years in manufacturing. I used to bake cakes for my colleagues and they always encouraged me to establish a bakery.

Fortunately, I was able to find a food truck on sale near my residence. After only a few minutes of thinking about it, I decided that this would be my new adventure. I bought a well-known food truck, and I did not change anything. Same recipes, same name, same way of cooking.

Though it was a far cry from a bakery, I accepted the challenge and fell in love with it.

In my free time, I began making sliders and tots, and I realized that after a few months that this was a lot better than anything else I had ever done before.

As a result, I quit my full-time job and dedicated myself exclusively to this food truck. I faced the biggest challenge at the beginning with driving the trailer. As I had never driven a large trailer like that before. Eventually, I mastered it, and got pretty good. Having worked at adoption events has been one of my best experiences so far. I am very passionate about animals. It is also a pleasure for me to work with and support local charities.

It was without a doubt the best decision I have ever made, and I do not look back on my previous professional life. I enjoy meeting new people and serving them these meals and watching them smile after each bite.

Visit Tanja’s Hella Fat Food if you would like to experience it for yourself. You can find events and location updates on our Facebook page or our events page.

Hopefully, I will have the opportunity to meet you in the near future
